Pakistan Railways to Acquire 230 New Passenger Coaches

Islamabad: Pakistan Railways has announced plans to acquire 230 new passenger coaches and 820 high capacity wagons as part of the Public Sector Development Programme. This initiative aims to enhance train speeds and ensure punctual service across its network.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the procurement is part of broader efforts to rehabilitate and reconstruct railway infrastructure, including tracks and locomotives. These upgrades are expected to allow trains to operate at speeds of up to 160 kilometers per hour, particularly in the ML-I project area, which is a key component of the China-Pak Economic Corridor.
