Pakistan reaffirms role, authority of UNGA in revitalization efforts

Pakistan has reaffirmed the role and authority of the UN General Assembly in maintenance of international peace and security.

Counsellor at the Pakistan Mission to the UN Naeem Sabir Khan, made these remarks in a statement during the first thematic debate on the “Role and Authority of the General Assembly,” at the UN headquarters in New York.

The Counsellor said the General Assembly’s pivotal role in addressing global concerns such as climate change, development, finance, terrorism, and disarmament, including through the establishment of subsidiary bodies needed to be reaffirmed.

Counsellor Naeem Sabir Khan also proposed the establishment of a dedicated mechanism to monitor the implementation of General Assembly resolutions.
