Pakistan Seeks to Deepen Ties with Oman in Trade, Investment, and Security

Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expressed Pakistan’s eagerness to enhance bilateral relations with Oman, focusing on trade, investment, energy, and defense sectors. This commitment was conveyed during a meeting with Oman’s Ambassador, Fahad Sulaiman Khalaf Al Kharusi, who paid a courtesy call on the Prime Minister today.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the discussions underscored the profound and brotherly relations between the two nations, rooted in shared history, faith, and culture. The Prime Minister appreciated Oman’s support, particularly noting an upcoming trade and investment delegation from Oman to Pakistan, which he assured would receive full cooperation from Pakistani authorities to foster mutually beneficial outcomes.

The meeting also addressed the recent terrorist attack on Imambargah Ali bin Abu Talib in Wadi Kabir, Muscat, which claimed the lives of six people, including four Pakistanis, and injured nearly thirty, predominantly Pakistanis. The Prime Minister condemned the attack and lauded Oman’s prompt response and collaboration in repatriating the deceased and treating the injured.

Prime Minister Sharif offered Pakistan’s support to Oman in combating terrorism and emphasized the necessity of eradicating terrorism in all its forms. In response, Ambassador Al Kharusi reaffirmed Oman’s commitment to strengthening its trade and investment ties with Pakistan.
