Pakistan’s Agriculture Minister Ensures Adequate Fertilizer Supply for Kharif Season

Islamabad, In an effort to support the upcoming Kharif agricultural season, Minister for National Food Security and Research, Rana Tanveer Hussain, has directed relevant authorities to ensure the sufficient availability of Urea and DAP fertilizer for farmers.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the directive came during a review meeting of the Fertilizer Review Committee held in Islamabad today. The meeting aimed to assess the demand and supply of critical fertilizers for the Kharif season, noting a 3.6 percent increase in Urea demand over the previous year.

Officials from the Ministry of Industries and Production reported on their coordination with provincial governments to monitor the production and availability of fertilizers. They confirmed that fertilizer manufacturing industries had been instructed to prioritize increased production to meet the rising demand.

Minister Hussain emphasized the government’s dedication to agricultural development and the welfare of farmers. He highlighted the integral role of agriculture in the country’s economy and assured that all necessary resources, including the provision of gas to fertilizer plants, would be mobilized to support this sector.

This initiative is part of a broader government effort to ensure the development of both the agricultural and industrial sectors, crucial for Pakistan’s economic growth.
