Passenger bus bursts into flames amid transporters’ protests in Assam

New Delhi, June 01, 2023 (PPI-OT): Amid strong protests by transporters over the laying off of hundreds of employees, a passenger bus burst into flames, probably by protesters, on Thursday morning in Tinsukia, Assam. The bus, registered under the number ‘AS12 BC 9447,’ was scheduled to depart for Tezpur.

However, before passengers could board the bus, it caught fire, leaving it completely gutted. Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire, which is believed to be the work of the protesting transporters. Adding to the already tense situation, the fire broke out amid ongoing protests by former employees of ASTC who were recently laid off from their positions.
