Peace and coexistence seminar held in Abu Dhabi as part of OIC Festival

Abu Dhabi A seminar entitled “Tolerance between the Philosophy of Truth and Justice: The Philosophy of Islam in Building Peace and Coexistence” was held at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) as part of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Festival, kicked off on Wednesday and will go through April 27.

The seminar was administered by OIC Secretary-General Advisor in Sawt Al-Hikmah Center Dr. Mohammed Shahim, with the participation of Grand Mufti at Dubai’s Islamic Affairs Department Dr. Ahmed Al-Haddad; Director of the Emirati Scholars Development Program Dr. Ahmed Al-Sanousi; Member of the Scientific Council of Al Muwatta Center Dr. Yousef Hameto; and Director of the OIC Dialogue and Outreach Department Dr. Bashir Ansari.

The participants discussed the issue of intercultural coexistence, stressing that Islam accepts and respects the other. They also called for the dissemination of a culture of dialogue and moderation among peoples.

At the outset of the meeting, Dr. Shahim applauded the efforts of the United Arab Emirates and its initiative to host the second edition of the OIC festival. He also expressed his pride in the support of Saudi Arabia � the headquarters state of the OIC � for the festivals and conferences launched by the Organization.
