Peshawar Education Minister Prioritizes Timely Textbook Distribution to Government School Students

Peshawar, Faisal Khan Turkai, the Provincial Minister of Education in Peshawar, emphasized the prompt distribution of free textbooks to students in government schools as a top priority. This initiative is part of a broader effort to ensure that educational materials are accessible to all students in the region promptly.

According to Directorate General Information and PRs – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Minister made these remarks during a meeting focused on the supply of free textbooks, attended by key educational officials including Secretary Education Masood Ahmed and Chairman Textbook Board Muhammad Faral Saqlain. The discussion revealed significant progress, with 100% of nursery level book supplies complete and several districts finalizing their distributions before Eid. Districts like Tank, Malakand, Hangu, Kohat, and Swabi were noted for completing their textbook supplies.

Turkai instructed that special attention be given to remote and hilly areas to ensure timely delivery of textbooks. He proposed the formation of teams within district education offices to expedite the distribution process and integrate it into the current enrollment campaign, guaranteeing that newly targeted students receive textbooks promptly.

Additionally, the meeting covered the ongoing admission campaign for 2024, highlighting its success and the complete online availability of student records. The Minister directed that the campaign focus particularly on girls’ education and grassroots community involvement, urging local leaders, mosque imams, and community moderators to participate actively in enrolling children and promoting quality education.
