President condoles death of Dr Muhammad Kamal

Islamabad, November 24, 2012 (PPI-OT): President Asif Ali Zardari has expressed profound grief and shock over the death of Dr. Muhammad Kamal Chief Executive Officer of the Shaheed Bhutto Foundation and described his death as a huge loss not only to the Foundation but to the forces of democracy and social and economic uplift of the poor.

Dr Kamal died of a massive heart attack in Peshawar last night.

Paying glowing tributes to late Dr. Kamal the President in his condolence message said that his selection as the first executive head of the Foundation by Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto in 2005 was a testimony of late Dr. Kamal’s commitment to democratic ideals and his ability to successfully manage the Foundation created in the name of Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto. Dr Kamal held this position till he breathed his last.

The achievements made by the Shaheed Bhutto Foundation during his headship in developing consensus among tribesmen on reforming the century old Frontier Crimes regulation (FCR) and local self governance and election reforms in the country will always be remembered, the President said.

As long as the Shaheed Bhutto Foundation grows and earns a name in advancing the cause of democracy and uplift of the poor the name of Dr Kamal will also be remembered, the President said adding, “It will always be the first line of his bio data that Dr. Kamal was the first executive head of the Bhutto Foundation”. For late Dr. Kamal the headship of SBF was not a job but a challenge and a mission, the President said.

President Zardari also prayed for eternal rest to the soul of Dr. Kamal and patience to the members of the bereaved family to bear the loss with fortitude.

The President also recalled and paid tributes to the services of the family of Dr. Kamal in fighting militancy. Recently his elder brother Abdul Kalam a senior police officer of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa holding the rank of SP was martyred in a targeted suicide attack as he was going towards his office in Peshawar.
