Prime Minister Gilani phones Turkish premier to felicitate him over his party’s electoral victory

Islamabad: Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani phoned his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan this evening to felicitate him over his party’s successive victory in parliamentary elections on behalf of the people and the government of Pakistan. While congratulating him on his own and on behalf of his family too, the Prime Minister said that Justice and Development Party’s (AKP) impressive electoral showing is a victory for democracy. He further said that this win of his party in third consecutive elections speaks volumes about the trust Turkish people repose in his leadership and the government’s policies.

The Prime Minister hoped that Pakistan’s relations with Turkey would further be strengthened under his stewardship as both brotherly nations have mutuality of views on regional and international issues. The democratic government in Pakistan, he said, looked forward to cementing its fraternal ties with Turkey through broadening its economic and trade relations.
