Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif telephones Chief Minister Punjab and seeks details and updates on Rawalpindi incident

Islamabad, November 16, 2013 (PPI-OT): Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif telephoned Chief Minister of the Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif and sought details and updates on the Rawalpindi incident. The Chief Minister briefed the Prime Minister at length on the measures taken by the government to defuse the tension in the area.

The Chief Minister apprised the Prime Minister that he and his team are monitoring the situation on minute-to-minute basis in consultation with Pakistan Army, intelligence agencies and Ministry of Interior.

The Prime Minister directed that miscreants responsible for this incident should not be spared and that they must be defeated in their nefarious designs of creating discord in the society. The Chief Minister also briefed the Prime Minister on the responsible and mature role of media
