Srinagar, Omar Abdullah, Vice President of the National Conference, has pledged to champion the rights of the people in Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir, asserting his party’s challenge against the influential forces of New Delhi and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).
According to Kashmir Media Service, Abdullah made these remarks in Baramulla after submitting his nomination papers for the parliamentary constituency. He drew parallels between the current political scenario and the historical Dogra period, referring to it as a time when locals were treated as political and economic subordinates. “Our struggle is for justice and identity,” Abdullah declared, emphasizing the battle for the future generations of the region.
He articulated the grievances of the Jammu and Kashmir populace, particularly post-2019, citing infringements on their rights to resources like water, land, and air. Abdullah vowed to take this fight to Parliament, promising vigorous advocacy despite the formidable opposition represented by the RSS and aligned political forces in Delhi.
Abdullah’s commitment highlights a deep-rooted political contest in the region, focusing on reclaiming what he described as the “snatched rights” of the people.
