Jammu, Employees from the water department took to the streets in Jammu city of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, protesting against the administration’s neglect towards resolving their longstanding grievances.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the demonstration saw a significant turnout of water department staff at the Chief Engineer’s office in Jammu, where they voiced their demands and expressed frustration over the administration’s lack of response. The protestors raised slogans highlighting their plight and accusing the higher authorities of indifference.
The core issues underscored by the demonstrators included the stagnation of permanent employees and the ongoing struggles of daily wage workers, who have awaited regularization for two to three decades despite promises from the authorities. Additionally, the protestors highlighted the plight of recently retired employees who face challenges in receiving their dues, necessitating a tedious process of navigating bureaucratic hurdles.
The employees made a strong plea for the immediate regularization of daily wage workers and insisted on the swift conduct of the Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) meetings for all cadres. They warned that their protest would persist until their demands are met and their long-standing issues are adequately addressed.
