Islamabad: A protest demonstration was organized by the All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter in front of the Indian High Commission in Islamabad. The event was held on Sunday to observe India’s Republic Day as Black Day, drawing a significant crowd of demonstrators.
According to a statement by Kashmir Media Service, a large number of people, including women, children, the elderly, and youth, participated in the protest. The demonstrators carried placards and black flags, voicing support for Kashmir and Pakistan.
The protest was led by several prominent figures, including the Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Chaudhry Anwarul Haq and Convenor of APHC-AJK Ghulam Mohammad Safi, among others.
Speakers at the event addressed the crowd, noting that Kashmiris globally mark India’s Republic Day as Black Day to challenge what they described as India’s colonial and imperial actions. They asserted that India has stripped away the freedom of Kashmiris and accused it of committing war crimes in the occupied region.
The speakers also argued that India should not conduct Republic Day celebrations in the disputed territory of Jammu and Kashmir, condemning what they claimed were India’s false narratives of normalcy in the area. They called on the international community to recognize the situation in Kashmir as it is.
Despite the challenges faced, the speakers vowed that the Kashmiri people remain dedicated to their cause, honoring the mission of their martyrs and continuing their struggle until their goals are achieved.
The protest concluded with a rally to the Indian High Commission to formally register their dissent.
