Karachi, February 04, 2020 (PPI-OT): Special Assistant to CM Sindh on Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Syed Qassim Naveed Qamar has said that there is a dire need to create awareness on differently abled people for their rights and to change mind-set on the issue. This he said while talking to a delegation of Ripple Koncepts here in his office on Tuesday. On this occasion Dr. Sagheer Ahmed Advisor Ripple Koncepts, Adeeb Aijaz Director Communication and media, Adeel Aijaz Managing partner and Khalid Fasih Managing partner were also present.
On this occasion Dr. Sagheer Ahmed Advisor Ripple Koncepts invited Special Assistant to CM Sindh on Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Syed Qassim Naveed Qamar in ” People of Determination International and Conference ( PODIEC) on the theme ” Integrating Persons with Disabilities into Mainstream” going to held on 17th April to 19th April 2020 at Karachi Expo Centre.
Syed Qassim Naveed Qamar added, ‘ Sindh is taking in lead in ensuring the protection of the rights of the differently abled people and it is the only province to have a dedicated department for empowerment of persons with disabilities and enhancement of job quota from 2 % to 5 % in public and private sectors’. He said that passing of Sindh Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Act 2018 and establishment of special courts for persons with disabilities. Special Assistant to CM Sindh on Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Syed Qassim Naveed Qamar said that Sindh was also the first province to issue driving license to hearing impaired persons and transforming the International Disability Day into a day of celebrations.
He suggested to take all relevant stakeholders on board for the cause and DEPD was working to bring more NGOs into net work for establishing Special Institutions in far flung areas to facilitate the differently abled children. On this occasion Special Assistant to CM Sindh on Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Syed Qassim Naveed Qamar assured them Sindh Government’s full support in arranging conference for awareness on differently abled people, he added.
