Provincial Consultation in Islamabad Addresses Compliance with International Human Rights Treaties

Islamabad: The Ministry of Human Rights, in partnership with the Treaty Implementations Cell of the Human Rights Department, Government of the Punjab, hosted a consultation in Islamabad to discuss Pakistan’s compliance with international human rights obligations. The session, which also took place at Faletti’s Hotel, focused on Pakistan’s Second Periodic Report on the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (ICESCR) and related issues concerning the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination.

According to Ministry of Human Rights, a platform for provincial stakeholders to exchange updates and strategies ahead of defending Pakistan’s report before the relevant treaty bodies in August 2024. The gathering highlighted ongoing efforts and initiatives aligned with the treaty requirements, reinforcing Pakistan’s commitment to meet its international human rights obligations comprehensively.
