Public Service as Top Priority for Sindh Government, Says Bilawal Bhutto Zardari

Islamabad: Pakistan People’s Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has emphasized that the Sindh government’s performance is rapidly improving. He made these remarks at a ceremony in Islamabad, where he reviewed the Sindh government’s progress over the past seventeen years.

According to Radio Pakistan, Bilawal highlighted that the Sindh government, backed by a strong mandate, is implementing effective measures across various sectors such as health, education, social welfare, poverty alleviation, agriculture, and infrastructure, despite numerous challenges. He noted a significant increase in the health sector’s budget allocation, which has grown from 2.9 percent in 2008 to 10 percent today. The province offers free international standard healthcare services at facilities including Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre and the Sindh Institute of Urology Transplantation.

Bilawal also addressed the education sector’s advancements, noting an increase from ten universities in 2008 to thirty today and the establishment of the country’s first Center for Autism in Sindh. Additionally, he highlighted the Benazir Income Support Programme as a key social safety net launched by the PPP.

Reflecting on the 2022 floods, Bilawal acknowledged the severe impact on Sindh, with significant damage to schools and homes. He expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the Federal government, and international donors for their support in flood recovery efforts. Financial aid has reached farmers, with over twenty-one billion rupees disbursed and additional support provided through the Benazir Haari Card.

In the irrigation sector, Bilawal reported that the province has developed 200 small dams, 203 canals, and an extensive network of water channels. The Sindh government also introduced the Benazir Labour Card to support the labor force financially.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari concluded by reaffirming his party’s dedication to public service and the comprehensive development of Sindh.
