Punjab Minister Visits Investment Board, Discusses Expansion and New Special Economic Zones

Lahore, In a significant development aimed at bolstering the province’s economic landscape, Chaudhry Shafi Hussain, the Provincial Minister for Industry and Commerce, visited the Punjab Investment Board to discuss future strategies and review current achievements.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab, CEO Jalal Hasan provided an in-depth briefing to Minister Hussain, highlighting the establishment of 18 Special Economic Zones across Punjab and the plan to initiate six more within the current year. The minister emphasized the importance of attracting fresh investments to generate employment and proposed transforming Punjab into a prime investment destination. The upcoming activation of the Pebit board of directors was also discussed, with a focus on involving members who can significantly contribute to the province’s investment appeal. Moreover, Hasan noted the accomplishments of the Punjab Investment Board, which include the issuance of 3,685 NOCs by its six business facilitation centers and the facilitation of investments totaling 6.38 billion dollars since 2009. The engagement and cooperative efforts of the Punjab Investment Board’s officers were acknowledged as instrumental in these achievements.
