Punjab Prioritizes Protection of Wheat Stock from Flood Damage

Lahore: Amid concerns over potential flood impacts, a meeting led by Secretary Food Punjab, Moazzam Iqbal Sipra, focused on safeguarding the region’s wheat reserves from floodwaters, with divisional and district officers detailing current protective measures.

According to Punjab Food Department, the session addressed strategies to ensure the security of wheat stocks stored in godowns and flag centers across all districts. Participants, including the Director Food Punjab, Additional Secretaries, and Deputy Secretaries, were advised to coordinate closely with district administrations and the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) to prevent damage to these vital reserves.

The meeting also tackled health concerns, mandating spraying operations to curb the surge in dengue larvae following recent heavy rains. Enhanced duties for officers were proposed to boost the efficiency of field operations monitoring.
