Punjab University awards PhD degrees to 07 candidates

Lahore: Punjab University has awarded PhD degrees to Shazia Rafique D/o Muhammad Rafique in the subject of Molecular Biology after approval of her research thesis entitled “HCV Therapeutic Vaccines: Generation of Infectious Hepatitis C Pseudo-Particles Containing Functional E1-E2 Envelope Protein Complexes,” Azher Saeed S/o Muhammad Saeed in the subject of Chemistry after approval of his research thesis entitled “Synthesis of Pyrido and Benzo-[1,4] Thiazine Derivatives and Their Biological Evaluation,” Shahida Dilawar Shah D/o Dilawar Shah in the subject of Punjabi after approval of her research thesis entitled “A Study of Munir Niazi: Personality, Ideology and Art,” Azra Mehmood D/o Hassan Mehmood in the subject of Molecular Biology after approval of her research thesis entitled “Role of Endothelial Progenitor Cells in the Development and Therapy of Diabetic Heart Failure,” Mariam Faiz D/o Faiz-ud-Din in the subject of Zoology after approval of her research thesis entitled “Characterization of Cytogenetic and Molecular Genetic Changes and their Prognostic Value in Leukaemic Patients,” Muhammad Yasir Zahoor S/o Zahoor Ahmad in the subject of Molecular Biology after approval of his research thesis entitled “Molecular Characterization of Congenital Mental Retardation in Pakistan” and Saiqa Razi D/o Abdul Majeed Razi in the subject of Microbiology and Molecular Biology after approval of her research thesis entitled “Molecular-Genetic Analysis of CR-Resistant Cyanobacteria from Industrial Wastes.”

They have completed their theses under the supervision of Dr Muhammad Idrees, Prof Dr Zaid Mahmood. Dr Nabila Rehman, Prof Dr Sheikh Riazuddin, Prof Dr Javed Iqbal Qazi, Prof Dr Shaheen N Khan and Prof Dr Shahida Hasnain, respectively.
