Quetta Authorities and Clerics Unite in Campaign Against Drug Abuse in Schools

Quetta: In a collaborative effort to curb drug use in educational institutions, Quetta’s Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Muhammad Anwar Kakar chaired a pivotal meeting focused on drug prevention strategies. The assembly brought together local officials, Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) representatives, police, and religious scholars to form a united front against the escalating drug issues in schools, colleges, and universities.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Balochistan, the meeting outlined a comprehensive plan involving the creation of committees across Quetta’s sub-divisions. These committees, comprising district administration, ulema, police, and ANF officials, aim to conduct regular visits and awareness campaigns within educational facilities. Notably, religious leaders at the meeting vowed to leverage their influence, delivering anti-drug sermons and engaging in community outreach, particularly during Friday prayers.

The initiative reflects a broader commitment to involve community figures in health and social campaigns, drawing on their previous successful involvement in anti-polio drives. The concerted effort described by ADC Kakar as a “jihad” against drugs, seeks to protect the region’s youth from substance abuse through educational efforts and the enforcement of stringent measures against drug cultivation and distribution.
