New Delhi, India’s opposition leader Rahul Gandhi has called for a parliamentary investigation into unusual stock market fluctuations before and after the exit polls of the country’s general election.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the market surged on Monday, a day before the election results, and then crashed to a four-year low on Tuesday, after the results showed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s alliance won with a slim majority.
Gandhi alleges that Modi and his ministers made remarks during campaigning that hinted at insider knowledge of market movements. He is seeking a Joint Parliamentary Committee probe to investigate potential collusion and identify foreign investors involved in the trades.
