Islamabad: Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony, Sardar Muhammad Yousaf, has formally launched the registration process for next year’s Hajj. Addressing a news conference in Islamabad today, he announced that the government, in collaboration with the National Information Technology Board, has digitized the Hajj system to ensure transparency, convenience, and speedy services.
According to Radio Pakistan, the Religious Affairs Minister highlighted that the registration for Hajj 2027 will be free of charge. The process will operate on a “first come, first served” basis and will be mandatory for both government and private Hajj schemes. Sardar Muhammad Yousaf stated that no application can be submitted for Hajj 2027 without registration.
He further clarified the requirements for those wishing to perform Hajj, emphasizing the need for a valid passport with validity until at least November 26, 2027. However, he noted that registration can be completed without a passport. The Minister mentioned that members of the same family could register jointly and that overseas Pakistanis would be able to register from any country.
Sardar Muhammad Yousaf also stressed the ease of registration, which can be done from home using the online portal or the mobile app “Pak Hajj”. In response to questions, he indicated that negotiations are ongoing with the Saudi government to increase Pakistan’s Hajj quota.
The Minister reflected on this year’s Hajj, describing it as the most successful in the country’s history, with Pakistani pilgrims expressing satisfaction with the arrangements. He credited the implementation of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif’s instructions and the cooperation of the Saudi government and the Saudi Ambassador to Pakistan for the improved Hajj arrangements.
