Rs 5 billion medical support programme for Sindh: Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar

Karachi, August 30, 2015 (PPI-OT):Provincial minister for health Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar has said that Sindh health department has provided essential medicines to more than 250000 patients during recent flood in affected areas of Sindh and no extra budget was allocated for the purpose. Health department did all this through its own resources.

This he said while talking to a delegation of Sindh Medical Support Program with the support of Poverty Eradication Initiative here in his office. Program Executive Director Shahid Yousuf and PPP senator Taj Haider were also present in the meeting. He appreciated that through the program 4500 LHVs/CMVs would be provided training while 300 standardized birthing stations especially in rural areas of Sindh would be developed.

Executive Director Shahid Yousuf told that the three year project costs Rs 5 billion and with this money multiple task including capacity building of doctors, nurses, health technicians, child health initiative involving 600000 students/families through health hygiene program in govt schools and quality gifts to poor students of govt schools would be performed.

Health minister Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar hoped that the program would enable the two million rural populations to get cost-effective standardized health services for life time and that would also reduce budgetary burden on government by providing supplies to all hospitals.

In another meeting Dr. Masood Solangi incharge Dengue control program told minister health Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar that so far 100000 pamphlets have been distributed during on- going awareness campaign against dengue in various parts of Karachi.

He was also informed that due to dengue 10 years old Hamas on 23 May, 30 years old Hina on 7 June and 26 years old Yawar on 11 June had died so far in Karachi. Jam Mehtab Dahar said that effective awareness campaign and preventive measures could save people from this fatal disease.
