Sachin Pilot accuses Indian administration of land appropriation in Jammu and Kashmir

Jammu, Sachin Pilot, a leader of the Indian National Congress, has accused the administration in Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir of unlawfully seizing land from local residents to distribute to outsiders. This accusation was made during a campaign rally in Kathua for the Congress party’s candidate in the upcoming Udhampur Lok Sabha elections.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Pilot, while campaigning for Choudhary Lal Singh, voiced strong criticism against the practices under the current Lieutenant Governor’s administration, claiming it facilitated the encroachment of land by non-locals. He stated that productive land was being taken from Kashmiris and handed over to people from outside the region, disrupting the lives and livelihoods of the local population.

The Congress leader also addressed broader political issues, criticizing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government for leveraging religious sentiments to distract from their governance shortcomings. “They centre their politics around divisive issues like mandir-masjid and Hindu-Muslim but neglect critical sectors such as education, health, and the economy,” Pilot remarked.

Furthermore, Pilot condemned the Election Commission of India for its perceived inaction in the face of political suppression, including freezing the accounts of the Congress party, jailing elected chief ministers, and stifling opposition voices. He called out the Election Commission for its silence and inactivity during these events.

Pilot expressed a sentiment of change perceived across the country, questioning the BJP’s decade-long rule and calling for accountability in the upcoming elections, scheduled for April 19. This stance reflects a growing demand for political reform and fair governance practices across India.
