Sardar Mohammad Yaqoob meets Minister for Postal Services

Islamabad, July 20, 2012 (PPI-OT): President Azad Jammu Kashmir Sardar Mohammad Yaqoob Khan met Federal Minister for Postal Services at his residence to discuss present political situation in the country. In the informal meeting, President AJK commended the efforts of Sardar Gorgaij regarding his initiatives for the Baloch community. Further more, both the leaders shared applauded the performance of PPP by exchanging their views on the recent victory of Abdul Qadir Gillani in Elections in Punjab.

Minister said, while emphasizing the importance of Post offices that it is the need of the hour to expand postal operations and utilize its gigantic strength across the Nation. Moreover, after assuming and performing BISP operations it is mandatory to enhance the number of Post offices in the country to facilitate the local public in getting their pensions, BISP grants and NADRA related facilities. Today the postal service is contributing far beyond its capacity with limited resources and staff.

President AJK commended the efforts of Sardar Gorgaij on performing his duties with full responsibility and commitment. While briefing the performance of AJK Government, the President mentioned that 3 New Medical Colleges, Number of Universities are recently started in this government, which was not existed for past 65 Years.

The Minister appreciated the initiatives taken by the President in AJK and highly praised his efforts. President AJK further added that the people of Balochistan would be given double quota in all the academic institutions of AJK. The government of AJK has special place for the people of Balochistan, and consider the province as their home. Our efforts are always available for all the corners of Pakistan, he added.

Minister said, for efficient functioning, it is mandatory to increase the number of Post Offices to every Union council in Pakistan. In Pakistan if other courier service providers are charging Rupees 300 for delivering a parcel, Pakistan Post is charging Rupees 180 for the same. Moreover, both the leaders have exchanged their views on the prevailing law and order situation in Balochistan.
