Sea/Practical Phase of Exercise BARRACUDA-VI conducted at North Arabian Sea

Karachi, October 28, 2015 (PPI-OT): Subsequent to planning and training onshore including discussions and preparational checks, the sea phase of on-going Exercise BARRACUDA was conducted today at North Arabian Sea near Gadani in order to rehearse oil spill control procedures and contingency mechanisms. This Marine Oil Spill Exercise is being conducted by Pakistan Navy in coordination with Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA). Exercise Opening brief was held yesterday at HQ PMSA.

Units of Pakistan Navy along with PMSA, National Disaster Management Authority, Provincial Disaster Management Authority, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources, Karachi Port Trust, Port Qasim Authority, Gwadar Port Authority, Pakistan National Shipping Corporation, National Institute of Oceanography, PEPA, Oil Companies Advisory Committee, OMCs and Refineries, SEPA, M/s BYCO, Commissioner Karachi, PSO, Chevron, Shell Pakistan Ltd., FOTCO, PRL etc participated in the Exercise.
