Sham polls no substitute to right to self-determination: JKPM

Srinagar, February 14, 2014 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Movement (JKPM), a constituent of the All Parties Hurriyet Conference (APHC), has said that the sham elections in Kashmir are no alternative to the right to self-determination guaranteed by the world community and the United Nations.

APHC leader and the JKPM Senior Vice Chairman, Mir Shahid Saleem addressing a meeting of the party office-bearers and workers in Jammu, said that the sham exercise stage managed by the India with the help of its seven 700,000 troops in the territory had already been rejected by the United Nations resolutions as an alternative to the right to self determination.

He said the people of Kashmir have started an indigenous struggle for obtaining their inalienable right to self-determination. He said during the past over 24 years the people of Kashmir have been offering unprecedented sacrifices to achieve their birth right the right to self determination.

Mir Shahid Saleem said the pro-India parties in Kashmir have once again started talking about the political and human rights of the Kashmiris to reach to the corridors of power. And once they achieve their goal, they become deaf and dumb to the sufferings and pain of the common people subjected to the worst kinds of oppression and suppression by the occupations forces, he added. The meeting was also addressed by Muhammad Shafi, Abdul Hamid Khan, Ghulam Hassan Mir and Muhammad Shafi Rafiqui.
