Sindh government is encouraging local and foreign investment in energy sector, says Chief Minister

Karachi, April 22, 2014 (PPI-OT): Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah has said that Sindh Government is encouraging local and foreign investment in energy sector, through public private partnership (PPP) joint venture (JV) providing tax holiday with other incentives to fill the 15 years gap in power generation and over come to energy crises.

He invited to the public and private investment companies of the France to come forward and avail the opportunities of investment here in Sindh which is rich with untapped natural resources of power generation.

This he observed while talking to the Consul General of France Mr. FRANCOIS DALL’ORSO who called on him at CM House today. Talking on the occasion, the Chief Minister Sindh said that France was close associate and friendly country of Pakistan.

He said that Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto was the pioneer of the friendship between both countries who had signed the historical nuclear agreement with France, for the development and prosperity of Pakistan. He said that unfortunately, Pakistan including Sindh Province still facing the energy crises, inspite of having natural resources such as coal reserves, wind corridors, environment of solar energy.

He said that after the 18th amendment provinces have became empowered to negotiate and enter into agreement for any kind of foreign investment or trade and commerce activities. He said that Sindh was rich with natural resources and having vast potential of investment specially in energy, agriculture and irrigation sectors and France can avail these opportunities of investment for betterment of both countries.

He said that Sindh Government has already been entered in agreement with investing companies of China, Turkey and other countries and was providing good incentives to these companies, the Chief Minister Sindh offered to the Consul General for availing the investment opportunities here in Sindh for which full support will be provided to them.

The Consul General of France, while talking in the occasion said that Karachi is a very important city of the South Asia and his country was deeply interested to increase the trade volume between France and Sindh Province.

He expressed his interest in the wind energy and preservation of ancient historical archaeological sites in Sindh. He said that exchange of business delegations would further pave the way for increasing the trade volume and investment in different areas of interest. The Principal Secretary to CM Mr. Rai Sikandar was also present on this occasion.
