Sindh Governor Ebad inaugurates bridge named after Mahmood A. Haroon

Karachi, May 30, 2013 (PPI-OT): Sindh Governor Dr. Ishrat Ul Ebad Khan on Wednesday inaugurated a bridge near Jinnah Terminal and a road in front of Malir Cantonment.

The bridge has been named after a former governor of Sindh, Mahmood A. Haroon, and the road after the national hero of 1965 war late M.M. Alam.

The three- lane 570 metre long bridge has been completed at a cost of Rs 330 million.

The Governor said on the occasion that the project has been completed one month ahead of the scheduled time.

It will ease the flow of traffic coming to and from the Airport as it was a choking point on Sharea Faisal. It will ensure smooth flow of signal free traffic from Airport to the Jinnah Hospital crossing.

As many as 42 LED lights would be installed at the bridge, as these are brighter and consume less electricity.

While unveiling the plaque to perform inauguration of M.M. Alam Road in front of Malir Cantonment Gate No. 6, the Governor said that the living nations remember their heroes.

The Administrator of Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, Syed Hashim Raza Zaidi and other officials were also present on the occasion.

The Governor also said that the four flyovers being constructed on Shahrah-i- Pakistan will also be completed soon as increased efforts are being made for the provision of funds for these.
