Sindh Police Enhance Security Measures for Chinese Residents in Karachi

Karachi, A high-level meeting chaired by IG Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon was held to discuss and enhance security protocols for Chinese residents in the province. The session, which took place at the Central Police Office, involved senior police officials from Karachi and other regions, who joined via video link.

According to Sindh Police, the meeting focused on the implementation of strict security measures for the Chinese community, following the Prime Minister of Pakistan’s directive for a zero-tolerance policy on their security. It was disclosed that Chinese residents would now be transported exclusively in bulletproof vehicles across the province to ensure their safety.

During the briefing, DIGSPU outlined the current security arrangements, including the deployment of personnel equipped with body-worn cameras and the use of CCTV for monitoring. A new committee, consisting of DIGs from the Special Branch, Security and Protection Unit (SPU), and a Zonal DIG, has been tasked with drafting standard operating procedures (SOPs) for foolproof security measures for Chinese nationals.

The meeting underscored that the local police and SPU are primarily responsible for the security of Chinese residents, with the Special Branch providing necessary support at all levels. The officials also emphasized the importance of ensuring secure travel routes for Chinese individuals, particularly in and out of South and East Karachi, with additional measures being planned to safeguard their movements.
