Singhpora residents to resist land acquisition by CRPF

Srinagar, December 01, 2013 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, opposing the puppet administration’s decision to allow Indian paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) to acquire around 600 kanals of land in their area, the residents of Singhpora in Baramulla district have formed a committee to resist the land acquisition.

Mohammad Rafiq Rather, a senior resident from the area, in a media interview said, “We have formed a coordination committee which comprises heads of different localities of the area to spearhead the agitation against the land acquisition.”

Rather said that besides sending letters to different officials, the committee had also presented a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner, Baramulla, seeking revocation of land acquisition order. “We already have thousands of kanals of land under the occupation of Army, BSF and CRPF. Now if more land is acquired by the forces our village will turn into garrison,” he added.

The puppet regime gave a ‘no objection certificate’ to the CRPF in 2007 to acquire the land in Singhpora, and now the Revenue department is in the process of land demarcation.
