HONG KONG, Jan. 11, 2011 /PRNewswire-AsiaNet/ —

Spencer Stuart, a leading global executive search consulting firm, today announced that Alice Au has joined its growing team across Greater China.

With over 15 years of search experience, Alice Au is a recognized expert at the senior executive and board levels within China and across Asia. Prior to joining Spencer Stuart, she was a partner with another prominent executive search firm, where she led that firm’s CEO and board services practice in Asia Pacific and consulted with a wide range of clients in the private equity and financial services sectors. She was also recently appointed as a part-time member of the Central Policy Unit of the Government of the Hong Kong SAR.

Alice Au began her career as a semiconductor engineer at Digital Equipment in the U.S. and subsequently joined McKinsey & Company as a consultant. She later joined International Paper in Corporate Development in New York, where she led cross-functional teams across multiple assignments in North America, Europe and Asia. She returned to Hong Kong in 1993 to establish a China fund and to advise midsize international companies on their China entry strategies. She has a BS degree in chemical engineering from Yale University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

“The dynamic environment in China continues to fuel demand for exceptional senior leaders. Alice’s deep expertise and senior relationships across the region will benefit not only the local Chinese companies and multinational organizations that we are fortunate to serve but also our growing base of private equity clients,” said Michael Bruce, who leads the China business for Spencer Stuart. “Her arrival also further strengthens our globally recognized Board Services Practice in China, and even beyond, as more international companies seek China expertise at the board level.”

“This addition is a natural extension of the Firm’s long-standing commitment to the critically important market of China, while also complementing our recent additions in several other dynamic economies such as India and Brazil,” added Simon Fenton, managing director, strategic development markets and practices for Spencer Stuart.

This appointment follows the addition of four new consultants in 2010 across Spencer Stuart’s offices in China.

Spencer Stuart opened its Hong Kong office in 1977, later establishing offices in Shanghai in 1994 and Beijing in 1995. The Spencer Stuart team in Greater China now numbers more than 40, including 14 senior consultants across the Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong offices.
