Srinagar Braces for Flash Floods Amid Predicted Rainfall

Srinagar: The Meteorological Department of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) has issued a forecast for potential flash floods triggered by moderate rainfall expected to commence tomorrow, July 12.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the region has enjoyed a brief relief from recent high temperatures, but the meteorological authority has raised concerns about possible flooding due to the upcoming rainfall, which is predicted to last until July 17.

The temperature in Srinagar and surrounding areas has dropped, with today’s maximum reaching 29.8 degrees Celsius. This cooling trend follows a brief period of rising temperatures. Other areas in the Kashmir valley, including Qazigund and Kupwara, reported maximum temperatures of 28.4 and 29.8 degrees Celsius, respectively. Kokernag and Pahalgam recorded temperatures of 28.5 and 25.7 degrees Celsius. In contrast, Jammu City experienced a warmer 33.3 degrees Celsius, with nearby Banihal, Batote, and Katra experiencing slightly cooler conditions. Despite the cooler weather, the threat of flash floods looms, necessitating heightened vigilance in the coming days.
