Srinagar: The Muttahida Majlis Ulema, an amalgamation of various political, social, and religious organizations in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, has pledged to uphold the distinct identity and unity of the Kashmir Valley against any divisive external influences.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the collective issued a statement in Srinagar denouncing efforts by certain factions to incite sectarian discord, perceived as a threat to the region’s long-standing communal harmony. The Muttahida Majlis Ulema called upon the Waqf Board Kashmir to actively disclose any such conspiracies and ensure the sanctity of religious sites is maintained.
The statement further emphasized the role of the group’s president, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, and its members in fostering a spirit of brotherhood, love, and tolerance among various sects within the region. This effort is seen as crucial in tackling the serious challenges that threaten to destabilize Kashmir.
Moreover, the assembly urged religious scholars and preachers across all faiths to refrain from making statements on any platform, including social media, that could provoke inter-sectarian conflict or undermine the societal cohesion essential for national resilience.
