State Bank of Pakistan directed to ensure availability of dollar notes with scheduled banks

Islamabad, December 02, 2013 (PPI-OT): The Federal Minister for Finance, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar has taken a serious notice of the shortage of dollar notes with the exchange companies and scheduled banks and has issued orders to the State Bank to ensure that adequate supplies of notes are made available in the market immediately.

It is said that the recent pressure on the exchange rate, particularly higher premium between inter-bank and open markets is primarily due to shortage of dollar notes for which timely arrangements of imports could not be made by relevant authorities.

The State Bank authorities have assured the Finance Minister that there will be no shortage of dollar notes in the market, henceforth.
