Suicide incident in Police custody

Peshawar, March 06, 2019 (PPI-OT): The Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Dr. Muhammad Naeem Khan while taking strong notice of suicide incident in police custody has directed DIG Mardan to hold a judicial enquiry into the matter so that police officials could be awarded due punishment.

It may be recalled that a dead body of one Zia Ullah had been recovered a few days ago in an alleged murder case in the jurisdiction of police station prang. A suspect in the murder case namely Kashif s/o Chain Badshah had been called in the police station for interrogation. During interrogation the suspect picked up official arms laying in police station and commit suicide. He was immediately rushed to hospital where he succumbed to injuries. It has been revealed that the niece of deceased Zia- Ullah had been working with the murderer as a munshi.

The IGP KPK while taking a strong exception of the incident has directed DIG Mardan to conduct a judicial enquiry into the incident under section 176 PPC by fulfilling all codal formalities so that exemplary punishment could be awarded to the police officials found involved in dereliction of duty. It merits mention here that DPO Charsadda had already suspended SHO, CIO, Muharrar and Maded Muharrar in the case.
