Thousands of Pilgrims Proceed to Kashmir for Amarnath Yatra Amid Weather Concerns

Jammu: Another group of 4,627 pilgrims embarked on their spiritual journey to Kashmir on Wednesday for the Amarnath Yatra, departing from Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas in Jammu under tight security.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the pilgrims were divided into two convoys for their journey to the holy shrine. The first convoy, consisting of 90 vehicles carrying 1,854 pilgrims, left for the North Kashmir Baltal base camp at 3:07 AM. The second convoy, with 95 vehicles carrying 2,773 pilgrims, departed at 3:33 AM for the South Kashmir Nunwan (Pahalgam) base camp. Officials monitoring the pilgrimage have reported partially cloudy weather with a chance of light rain, which could affect travel conditions on the traditional 48 km Pahalgam route and the shorter 14 km Baltal route leading to the cave shrine.
