Traders demand promulgation of Rent Control Act in Islamabad

Islamabad, December 04, 2013 (PPI-OT): A delegation of All Traders Association of Blue Area, Islamabad led by its President Mr. Nadeem Mansoor visited Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry and highlighted various issues being faced by the traders of Blue Area. Chaudhry Furqan Chairman, Imran Naqvi Secretary General, Amin Pirzada Group Leader, Naeem Siddiqui, Muhammad Yousaf and other traders were in the delegation.

Addressing the delegation, Munawar Mughal, former President of Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry said non-existence of Rent Control Act in the federal capital has created lot of problems for the business community due to which they are feeling very insecure.

Shops rents have increased so much that tenants are now becoming defaulters. If this trend was not controlled, Islamabad would become so expensive that people would be unable to reside in this city. Therefore, it is essential to have a balanced Rent Control Act in Islamabad.

Khalid Mehmood Chaudhry, Senior Vice President of Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry said CDA has halted development works in markets and while the condition of parking, footpaths and street lights in markets presents a pathetic look.

The commercial areas are also devoid of toilet facilities due to which consumers, especially ladies have to face great problems. If CDA did not pay any urgent attention to address these issues, the markets in Islamabad would soon become more dirty and unhygienic places.

Ajmal Baloch, Central Organizing Secretary of Traders Action, Islamabad said few days ago, the Directorate General of Trade Organizations had issued a license of Small Traders Chamber, which was totally illegal as it was issues in violation of relevant laws. He appealed to the Director General Trade Organizations to conduct an inquiry into this matter to irregularities and cancel the license issued to Small Traders Chamber.

Mr. Nadeem Mansoor, President and Chaudhry Furqan, Chairman of All Traders Association, Blue Area, Islamabad said at this occasion that Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry was the representative body of the local business community while some elements were trying to create disunity among traders, but traders would not allow such efforts to succeed.

They said traders should develop unity in their ranks and cooperate with ICCI for solution of their problems. They also demanded that instead imposing parking fee CDA should focus on development works in markets including street lights, foot baths and toilets etc. which was its core job.

At the conclusion of meeting, Mr. Munawar Mughal, former President and Mr. Muhammad Ali, Vice President of Islamabad Chamber of Commerce presented Chamber’s shield to Mr. Nadeem Mansoor, President of All Traders Association, Blue Area, Islamabad.
