Islamabad: The fourth class of levies from the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) graduated today from a U.S. government-sponsored training program, the Levy Basic Recruit Course, at the Police Headquarters in Islamabad. With the graduation of this 37-member class, a total of 224 FATA levies have received basic training since May 2010 under the sponsorship of U.S. Embassy Islamabad’s Police Assistance Program.
The Deputy Secretary of Narcotics for the FATA, Munir Ullah Khan, presided over the ceremony and presented the graduates with certificates honouring their achievement. The graduation is the latest milestone in the U.S. police training program, which has to date provided $17 million worth of equipment to the FATA Secretariat, including vehicles, communications equipment, body armor, and other items.
