UN and Pakistan, India should jointly address Kashmir: Farooq Rehmani

Islamabad, May 26, 2019 (PPI-OT): “Under the given horrible and chaotic conditions, it’s of primary importance that the United Nations and Pakistan and India should work together to prevent loss of precious human lives in the Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir, where laws have been framed and powers given to the army and the paratroopers to eliminate youth, muzzle basic freedoms and kill people at will to crush the world oldest freedom movement in the South Asia.”

This has been stated by the Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir People’s Freedom League, Muhammad Farooq Rehmani, in an appeal to the UN Secretary General, New York (US). He said peaceful environment and abrogation of draconian laws and an end to all unbridled powers of the army were prerequisites for people’s confidence on any dialogue between Pakistan and India. He said India is trying to resolve Kashmir by power of armed forces with their brutish style.

Strongly condemning use of army and police against the people even during the holy Ramazan, martyring civilians, freedom fighters including Zakir Musa, in the valley and imposing curfew like restrictions and restricting access to internet, he said India’s continued provocations, humiliations and CSOPs, torching of residential houses, use of pellets and other brute methods are more than enough to ignite flames of hate and rage in the wounded region.

He said Indian Modi-cult looked callous towards any peaceful settlement of the Kashmir dispute and it had never showed any sincere approach towards addressing the most powerful voice for the right to self-determination. He warned inability and insincerity of the Indian rulers would never deter Kashmiris from their chosen path of struggle for freedom.

Muhammad Farooq Rehmani paid rich tributes to the freedom fighters and civilians who were targeted and thus attained martyrdom in the last few days including all those young patriots who embraced martyrdom in the holy Ramadan. May Allah be happy with them and bless them with eternal success in their life here-after.” Meanwhile, Farooq Rehmani expressed profound grief and sorrow over the sad demise of one of the great and versatile writers/ Kashmiri patriots, Muhammad Yousuf Buch, in New York, USA.
