UN, major powers urged to settle Kashmir dispute

Srinagar, June 10, 2019 (PPI-OT):In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Syed Ali Gilani, has urged the United Nations, the United States, Britain, France, Russia and China to expedite their moral, diplomatic and political efforts to resolve the Kashmir dispute.

Syed Ali Gilani in a statement issued in Srinagar asked the international community to prevent India from carrying out barbarism, ruthless killings, incarceration of political activists and gross violations of human rights in occupied Kashmir. The APHC chairman termed the Kashmir dispute as an outcome of non-compliance of the 1947 formula for the Partition of India stressed early settlement of the Kashmir issue through grant of right to self-determination, guaranteed by the United Nations.

A delegation of Jammu and Kashmir Muslim League visited the residences of martyrs in Pulwama and Islamabad districts and extended their sympathies with the bereaved families. The delegation was led by senior party leader, Muhammad Rafiq Ganai.

Scores of men and women associated with Association of Parents of Disappeared Persons, today, staged a sit-in protest at Partap Park in Srinagar demanding justice for the disappeared family members. Indian forces launched a cordon and search operation in Akingam village of Islamabad district and conducted door-to-door searches in the area.

A special Court of Pathankot convicted six for rape and murder of an 8-year Muslim girl, Asifa, in Kathua district. Those convicted by the special court include the mastermind Sanji Ram, two special police officers Deepak Khajuria and Surender Verma, Anand Dutta, Parvesh Kumar and police head constable, Tilak Raj. The girl, who belonged to a Muslim nomadic tribe, was kidnapped and held captive at a village temple by Hindus belonging to communal groups in Kathua district on January 10, 2018.

She was drugged, starved and repeatedly raped for days before being strangled to death. Her mutilated body was found in a forest area on January 17, 2018. The Global cab service providers, Ola and Uber, have refused to start their operations in occupied Kashmir due to the frequent internet shutdowns by the Indian occupational authorities in the Valley.
