Visit of Assistant Foreign Minister of Qatar to Islamabad from 29-30 September 2014

Islamabad, September 30, 2014 (PPI-OT): Mr. Muhammad Bin Abdullah Al-Rumaihi, Assistant Foreign Minister of the State of Qatar, visited Islamabad on 29-30 September 2014. Mr. Al-Rumaihi paid courtesy call on the Advisor to the Prime Minister on National Security and Foreign Affairs, Mr. Sartaj Aziz. They exchanged views on bilateral cooperation, in particular energy cooperation, economic relations and human resource.

Mr. Aziz emphasized the importance of setting up of Pakistan-Qatar Joint Business Council to expand trade and also offered services of Pakistan’s skilled and unskilled labour for mega infrastructure projects being initiated by Qatar including “FIFA City” for hosting FIFA 2022 World Cup.

Mr. Al-Rumaihi had detailed bilateral consultations today with Ambassador Syed Tariq Fatemi, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs. Both sides emphasized the need to further explore all possible areas of cooperation. Ambassador Fatemi underscored the need for cooperation in the field of energy, especially import of natural gas from Qatar, investments in projects of infrastructure development and provision of manpower from Pakistan.

The two sides also exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual interest. In these bilateral consultations, there was detailed discussion on infrastructure development in the region for regional integration.
