Warning Posters Emerge in Kashmir Against Land Sales to Non-Kashmiris

Karachi, In Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir, new posters urging residents to avoid selling property to non-Kashmiris have appeared, highlighting concerns over the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS)’s policies in the region. These posters, found in Srinagar and Baramulla, are part of a campaign to protect the demographic and cultural integrity of the region from perceived external encroachments.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the posters emphasize the potential risks of altering the local demographic through property sales to outsiders, drawing parallels with the situation in Palestine. They warn of the BJP and RSS implementing strategies akin to Israeli policies in Jammu and Kashmir, which they claim aim to displace Kashmiris and alter the region’s demographic makeup by issuing domicile certificates to non-local residents.

The campaign underscores the appropriation of Dogra lands in the Jammu area, alleging that the ruling parties are facilitating the relocation of non-Jammu Kashmiris and unfairly distributing jobs and contracts to them. The call to action stresses the necessity for Kashmiris to collectively oppose these changes, fearing a gradual loss of territorial and cultural heritage to external influences, particularly the Indian state of Maharashtra.

These concerns have been amplified through social media channels, aiming to galvanize local and international attention to the situation in Jammu and Kashmir.
