Water and Power Development Authority seeks National College of Arts support to develop concept design for Glacier Monitoring and Research Centre buildings

Lahore, March 21, 2016 (PPI-OT): The Pakistan Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA), in a meeting held here at WAPDA House today, sought the help from National College of Arts (NCA) to develop concept design for construction of state-of-the-art office buildings for Glacier Monitoring and Research Centre (GMRC), to be constructed at Lahore and Skardu. The said office buildings will be constructed with the financial assistance provided by the German development bank namely KfW.

The meeting presided over by WAPDA Chairman Zafar Mahmood, was attended by NCA Principal Dr. Murtaza Jafri, KfW Senior Sector Coordinator Dr. Pervaiz Naeem, WAPDA Member (Water) Muhammad Shoaib Iqbal, WAPDA Secretary Amer Ahmad and other senior officers of WAPDA.

Welcoming the NCA team in the meeting, WAPDA Chairman said that architectural harmony with the surroundings is important for construction of buildings. He expressed the hope that NCA students, guided by their teachers will keep this factor in view for developing concept design for GMRC buildings.

He also requested NCA to constitute a team to present their ideas to create awareness among the people about significance of water and its conservation in all walks of life. The Chairman also thanked German Government for the financial support to construct GMRC office buildings at Lahore and Skardu.

NCA principal assured WAPDA of their full support, adding that NCA will carry out both assignments as a national service. Earlier, KfW Senior Sector Coordinator briefed the participants of broad para meters regarding the theme development.
