We have put Pakistan on road to progress: Prime Minister

Islamabad, January 28, 2014 (PPI-OT): Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has said that we have put Pakistan on the road to progress through our objective policies. If we’d be able to improve law and order situation, Pakistan will start galloping on the road of development, PM added. He said this while addressing the MNA’s of Faisalabad division who called on him at PM house.

PM said that during previous tenures vital state matters were neglected and had they taken decision in national interest, the state affairs would have been different today. PM told that it is a good sign that despite the law and order situation the economic indicators, of the present government, are positive and it is being recognized by the world community as well.

Prime Minister said that the Youth Business Loan Scheme would provide further impetus to the economy as thousands of youth will benefit from the scheme. The enthusiasm shown by youth for this scheme is a positive sign as when they perform, overall economy of the country will benefit.

We need to guide the youth so that they can use the loan efficiently and effectively, PM added. PM said that most of the applicants to the youth scheme have requested for loan in agriculture sector, which is a sign of the booming agriculture industry in Pakistan.

Prime Minister said that GSP plus status to Pakistan is a special incentive to the textile industry of Faisalabad and they can benefit from it. But in order to benefit from the GSP plus Status power shortage needs to be resolved, PM added.

PM told that steps have been taken to resolve the matter. While discussing the matter of upgrading the Airport in Faisalabad PM said that the private sector should be involved in the construction of new Airport through Public Private Partnership. He directed to initiate that the project on PPP basis. The Government is ready to enter such agreement with the local investors, PM added.

Addressing the demand of construction of technical education institutions, PM said that the Pakistan is gifted with manpower and we need to utilize them through providing them technical skill in order to enhance their capabilities.

The members also discussed the scarcity of medical facilities in their areas. PM assured to look into the matter and added that government policy is to provide medical facilities in all parts of the country. Addressing the matter of completion of development schemes, Prime Minister said that “We have made an Oversight Committee which is prioritizing the development projects.

The schemes which are beneficial to the community at large will be completed”. PM said that he is aware of the problems of mass transit in Faisalabad and told that Metro Bus System has been planned for the city.
