Karachi Encourages Investment from Pakistani Business Community Abroad

Karachi, During the inauguration of Pakistan’s first private charging station for electric vehicles, Provincial Minister for Energy, Development and Planning Syed Nasir Hussain Shah emphasized the need for the Sindh Government to support and facilitate the Pakistani business community investing abroad. The minister highlighted the potential economic benefits of such investments and discussed several initiatives to promote green energy within the province.

According to Directorate General Information and PRs – Sindh, Minister Shah detailed the Sindh government’s commitment to public-private partnerships and its efforts to provide a conducive environment for investors, particularly in the transition towards green energy solutions like solarization and electric vehicles. He advocated for the expansion of electric charging stations across the province and proposed the introduction of electric motorcycles for government employees and journalists, along with a solarization unit at the Karachi Press Club.

The event also addressed the safety standards in the energy sector, with Minister Shah declaring zero tolerance for negligence affecting miners’ health and safety. He announced that companies failing to implement necessary safety measures would face cancellation of their leases. This statement underscores the government’s strict stance on protecting workers in critical sectors.

Additionally, Minister Shah outlined the government’s plans to accelerate development projects previously stalled, with guidance from Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and the Chief Minister’s team. He also mentioned negotiations with the federation to resolve issues for consumers awaiting digital meters, indicating swift action to address public grievances.

Future plans include significant investment in solar parks and incentives for energy consumption, aimed at supporting industries and domestic users alike.
