Yasin Malik Opts to Represent Himself in Delhi High Court Against NIA Death Penalty Appeal

New Delhi: Yasin Malik, the Chairman of the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front, declared in the Delhi High Court on Friday that he would personally argue his defense against the Indian National Investigation Agency’s (NIA) appeal seeking the death penalty for him. Malik is currently detained on charges he claims are unfounded.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Malik, appearing via video conference from Tihar jail, informed Justices Suresh Kumar Kait and Girish Kathpalia of his decision to forego legal representation and advocate on his own behalf. This announcement follows a prior ruling from last August, which permitted Malik to participate in hearings through video conferencing.
