Karachi: The 10-day long Waseela-e-Haq training workshop under the aegis of Benazir Income Support Programme concluded here on Wednesday successfully.
As many as 24 families attended the workshop, selected through balloting under Waseela-e-Haq programme of Benazir Income Support Programme.
Speaking on the occasion, Director Karachi Mr Pervaiz Iqbal and Director Lyari Mr Ghulam Nabi Babar said the trained families would be provided with Rs 300,000 interest free loan to start with own business.
Mr Pervaiz Iqbal Director Karachi and HQ Said that The Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) Waseela-e-Haq scheme was formulated with the mission of “Breaking the vicious cycle of poverty through micro loans”. Through this, female beneficiaries from the most marginalized segment of society are selected through a computerized prize- draw, to receive a loan of up to Rs. 300,000 for setting up an enterprise.
Mr Ghulam Nabi Babar, Director Lyari BISP said that Waseela-e-Haq scheme will help thousands of poor families graduate out of the monthly subsistence, and set up their own small businesses and live a life of dignity and self respect.
He said these families would return this amount in 15 years period. He urged the families to start businesses at the earliest to become useful resources of society. He said the programme is being promoted under the guidance of Farzana Raja, in charge of the programme.
In the last Mr Pervaiz Iqbal and Mr Ghulam Nabi Babar were distributed certificates amongst the successful beneficiaries of BISP. BISP Officials and SAFWCO officials were present there.
