9 prisoners hospitalized after 3 days of hunger strike

Srinagar, May 10, 2015 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, nine political prisoners, who were on hunger strike since Wednesday in Baramulla jail, were hospitalized after their condition deteriorated. Three of the inmates were shifted to Srinagar for specialized treatment. The prisoners went on strike against the non-availability of public prosecutor at the district court, which had delayed their trial for the past eight months.

The protesting detainees were taken to a hospital after they fell unconscious. Six of them were handed over to jail authorities after treatment. Mohammad Aqib, one of the three prisoners shifted to Srinagar, told reporters, “We will continue our strike till the fulfillment of our demands.” The two others shifted to Srinagar were identified as Hilal Ahmad Pala and Mohammad Arif.
