Ahsan Iqbal Reviews Connectivity Plans with Central Asian States and Europe

Islamabad: Federal Minister for Planning Development and Special Initiatives, Ahsan Iqbal, chaired a meeting to review Pakistan’s road and rail connectivity plans with Central Asian States and Europe, emphasizing the strategic importance of enhancing regional cooperation and economic integration. The meeting focused on finalizing comprehensive connectivity plans, ensuring they are feasible and ready for implementation to capitalize on Pakistan’s strategic geographic position.

According to Press Information Department, the meeting brought together senior officials from the Ministry of Communications, the Ministry of Railways, and members of the Planning Commission. During the discussions, Minister Iqbal highlighted Pakistan’s potential to become a regional connectivity hub, urging the officials to address any gaps in the current plans and ensure the proposals are actionable.

Minister Iqbal directed the concerned ministries to finalize their strategic connectivity plans, focusing on efficient and reliable trade corridors that would leverage Pakistan’s location to the fullest. “We need to ensure that our proposals are actionable and ready for implementation,” Iqbal stated, underlining the need for thorough preparation and feasibility in all proposals.

The meeting concluded with a consensus on the urgency of expediting the finalization of these connectivity plans, aiming to boost economic ties and regional cooperation with Central Asian states and European countries.
